A Secluded Safari Sanctuary

Morala Lodge is a private, exclusive-use safari lodge, booked in its entirety for one group at a time. Ideally suited to families, groups of friends and multi-generational travellers, the lodge offers a seamless, fully hosted safari experience where every detail is taken care of.

With a dedicated on-site team, guests enjoy the comfort and ease of a hosted lodge while retaining complete privacy and flexibility. Days unfold at your own rhythm — whether shaped around game drives, long shared meals or quiet moments overlooking the reserve.

Morala comprises a main lodge with welcoming shared spaces, indoor and outdoor dining areas, and a traditional boma. Guests also have access to a swimming pool, expansive outdoor decks, a fully equipped gym and a pétanque court, all set within the natural surroundings of the reserve.

Conveniently situated near the western airstrip and close to the open plains of the reserve, Morala enjoys magnificent views across rolling hills and valleys. Its central position within Welgevonden allows easy access to a diverse range of habitats, ensuring rich and varied wildlife encounters throughout your stay.

Meet the Morala Family

Morala is run by a close-knit, four-person on-site team who know the lodge and the reserve intimately and take pride in welcoming guests as part of the family.

From the moment you arrive, the team ensures that all aspects of your stay are seamlessly taken care of, including meals, drinks, daily housekeeping, laundry, and the smooth flow of each day. This fully staffed approach allows guests to truly relax and enjoy their safari without having to think about logistics or planning.

The atmosphere at Morala is warm, attentive, and personal, with staff always present yet discreet, ensuring comfort without formality.

Catering at Morala

Morala Lodge offers a fully catered safari experience.

All meals are prepared on site by the resident chef and include three daily meals -breakfast, lunch, and dinner -thoughtfully planned around your group’s preferences. Freshly prepared snacks and drinks are provided throughout the day, including during mealtimes and on game drives.

Dietary requirements and preferences are happily accommodated with advance notice. Whether dining indoors, outdoors, or around the fire, meals at Morala are a central part of the experience -relaxed, generous and designed to be shared.

Lodge Facilities & Shared Spaces

The main lodge is an expansive communal area designed for comfort, connection and relaxation. 

The lodge includes the following facilities:

  • Viewing deck overlooking the hills and valleys of the reserve

  • Swimming pool

  • Lounge with fireplace

  • Dining area and with braai area

  • Traditional boma

  • Petanque court

  • Private game vehicle 

  • Fully equipped gym

Please note that the lodge is not fenced. During the day you can walk unaccompanied between your chalet and the main lodge. If you wish, a member of our staff will escort guests to and from chalets at night. Families with young children must be vigilant at all times.

Safari Game Drives

Included in your stay at the lodge are morning and evening Safari game drives together with your personal accredited and experienced game ranger. The morning game drives are preceded by a coffee or cup of tea and a rusk and depart at a time that is convenient for you and your group. You will get a chance to stretch your legs during the morning drive which is accompanied with tea, coffee and muffins.

Afternoon game drives include sundowners in the bush together with your snacks and favourite drink to watch the African sun bid its farewell for another day.

An Evening Under the Stars
